You’ve started your business and you KNOW you need help with bookkeeping. Maybe you’re not ready to hire someone, but you need to know how to get started and get it done the right way. If you are DIYing it, here are my top recommendations for bookkeeping software.
There are three Software-As-A-Service options out there that I’m comfortable recommending. Two are more robust, but all three are viable options depending on your needs. Let’s take a quick peek at each one:
This program enjoys the greater market share right now, as the QuickBooks name has been around for years and is very familiar to business owners. With the continuous updates that QBO has enjoyed, it is an excellent online alternative to using the Desktop version. It is very affordable and packed with features to help your bookkeeping process flow smoothly.
This is the new kid on the block, here in the US anyway. It is as full featured as QuickBooks, and integrates with over 600 different services to make it even more robust. A bit less expensive than QBO, Xero will also assist in ensuring your bookkeeping tasks are completed quickly and accurately.
While not as packed with accounting features as QBO and Xero are, Wave is a great choice for the DIYer. First, it’s completely free, which really helps the bottom line! You can still track expenses and income, and generate some of the financial reports. You can’t get as detailed with reporting as you can with the other programs, but if you are just starting out or are still fairly small, this app should work just fine!
Let’s compare these three apps and see which one might be best for you!
You’ll definitely want to explore each of these options to see what resonates with you. They are all super similar, but each one organizes the information differently, and so depending on the needs of your business, may or may not work for you.
